Re-created: Basalt and Origami.
A piece of history – saved from oblivion.
In August 2021, on a trip along the trail of old porcelain factories, we found damaged moulds of a mug and a small bowl in the rubble of a closed-down factory.
Wanting to save them from oblivion, we recreated their shapes.
We designed new lids for them, inspired by the Japanese art of origami and the extraordinary nature of basalt rock. And so the mug form became the Origami candle, and the old bouillon cup became the Basalt candle.
Basalt and Origami are a marriage of old and new.
