✨ How to properly burn our candles?
Your Kyuka candle is more than just a scent – it's a ritual worth celebrating properly. Read how to care for it from the first lighting to enjoy the full experience and keep the beautiful container for years.
🔥 The first lighting – the most important!
-
Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the container. This is key to avoiding so-called tunneling.
-
Burn the candle for at least 1–2 hours, depending on its diameter.
🪵 Wick options – a ritual according to you:
-
Wooden – crackles quietly like a miniature fireplace.
-
Cotton – a classic that provides a steady flame.
👉 Both types require regular trimming – preferably with our trimmer.
🧡 Candle care
-
Before each burn: trim the wick to about 5 mm.
-
Extinguishing: use a snuffer – it's safer and doesn't disturb the scent.
-
Do not leave the candle unattended or burn it for more than 4 hours at a time.
🕳️ How to save a tunneling candle?
If there is unmelted wax around the wick:
-
Give the candle more time – until the entire surface melts.
-
You can use a strip of aluminum foil with a hole for the wick to evenly distribute heat (for 1–2 hours).
🕯️ Candle burned out? For us, that’s just the beginning!
Leave about 1 cm of wax – that’s the safe limit. Then:
-
Pour hot water from the kettle into the container + a little detergent.
-
Wax will float to the surface – collect it or let it harden and remove.
-
Remove the metal wick holder, rinse the vessel.
